Michelle Bottomley joined New York Life’s Retail Life & Marketing Department in 2018 as
Senior Vice President. In this role, she serves as the Chief Marketing Officer.

Prior to joining New York Life, Ms. Bottomley served as Executive Vice President & Chief
Marketing Officer with Staples from 2017 until their buy-out by Sycamore Partners. In this
role, she was responsible for leading the branding and transformation of the marketing
function to advance customer-centric growth.

Ms. Bottomley served as the Global Chief Marketing & Sales Officer with Mercer from
2013 to 2016, where she was responsible for setting global marketing and sales strategies,
including positioning Mercer as a world-class brand and delivering dynamic digital
customer engagement. She served from 2012 to 2013 as the President of Zinio, a
multiplatform distribution service for digital magazines, where she was responsible for
leading the transformation to mobile-first web design experience and introducing new
subscription models. Ms. Bottomley served as the Chief Executive Officer for Kite Flying, a
marketing consultancy company she founded, from 2011 to 2012.

Prior to these roles, she also served as the Chief Marketing Officer with Barclaycard for three
years and for ten years she served in multiple progressively responsible roles with Ogilvy &
Mather, where she rose to Co-President ultimately serving as Chief Operating Officer. Earlier
in her career she held marketing positions at Epsilon, Digitas and Liberty Mutual Insurance
Group.

Ms. Bottomley received a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from the Northeastern
University.
