KAREN CHONG is the Vice President of Audience Strategy, Age Inclusion, for AARP, and leads the enterprise-wide strategy for raising awareness of age discrimination, including challenging the outdated, negative stereotypes associated with aging. As a leader within the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Chong develops strategic partnerships to help break through social and digital clutter while focusing on expanding AARP’s reach. Forging partnerships with Advertising Week NY, Allure Magazine, Refinery29, and others, Chong doubled engagement year over year for AARP’s #DisruptAging campaign and innovated research on women’s perspectives on aging, microaggressions, and media representation that has become a cornerstone in the fight against ageism. Sparking this culture and systemic shift in how we view aging is core to AARP’s mission to empower us to choose how we live as we age. AARP is the nation’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, with 38 million members and the most widely-read publications in the world. Prior to AARP, she led partnership and content marketing teams at leading organizations including PBS, The Washington Post Company, and Pearson PLC. @karenrightnow @aarp
