As Senior Vice President of Public Relations and Social Media for The Advertising Council, Ellyn Fisher works to promote the non-profit organization and its more than 40 public service communications programs. She has more than 15 years of experience in public relations and an expertise in media relations, influencer relations, community management, content development and marketing, strategic partnerships, special events and brand positioning.
Ms. Fisher is responsible for press relations and social media outreach conducted on behalf of both the Ad Council and its campaigns. She counsels Ad Council campaign managers and the organization’s non-profit and federal government agency sponsors on public relations and social media activities and opportunities designed to extend the reach of their programs and increase awareness and engagement in their brands. Noteworthy programs managed include Smokey Bear, the viral “Love Has No Labels” campaign and autism awareness. Ms. Fisher coordinates targeted press outreach, content development, special events, satellite TV and radio media tours, blogger outreach, word-of-mouth marketing and engagement on social platforms. In addition, she helps manage Ad Council communications channels, including the Ad Council’s blog, Adlibbing, and the organization’s e-newsletter Create + Change. Additional responsibilities include speechwriting, media training and conducting informational presentations about the Ad Council to visiting foreign dignitaries.
Prior to joining the Ad Council in July 2001, Ms. Fisher worked at Middleberg Euro RSCG. Her clients included Lending Tree, Western Union and Reuters. Ms. Fisher has also worked at Baker Winokur Ryder, a division of Ogilvy & Mather, which promotes celebrity talent, and at USA Networks.
Ms. Fisher has been a frequent classroom lecturer at numerous universities, as well as an active participant in undergraduate mentoring programs. She has spoken on various panels at communications and social media industry conferences, including South by Southwest Interactive, Blogher, the CDC’s National Conference on Health, Communication, Marketing and Media, the Ad Club and the New York Women in Communications.
Ms. Fisher is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and she received Penn State’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2012. She serves on Penn State’s Communications and Marketing Committee and has served on the boards of the American Cancer Society’s Communications and Marketing Advisory Committee and Penn State’s College of Communications Advertising/PR Alumni Network, co-chairing the social media committee and serving on the nominating committee. Ms. Fisher resides in Manhattan.
