David Matt is the VP, Creative, Content & Strategy for Meredith Corporation’s content marketing agency, Foundry 360. David leads Emmy and Webby-winning teams producing content programs for clients as diverse as Ford Motor Company, Bank of America, GEICO, Ad Council, New York Stock Exchange, and Diageo Spirits, while creating double-digit growth each year since Foundry 360’s inception. Plus, we just won Content Marketing Agency of the Year!

Before The Foundry David was the Chief Creative Officer for avVenta, a digital advertising and production agency. He oversaw the creative and development teams in New York and San José, Costa Rica, winning a Webby nomination for work done with National Geographic. Clients included GM, Citibank, Heineken, Expedia and more. David’s efforts expanded the business and helped grow valuation, contributing to the company’s acquisition by Accenture.

He was also Partner and Design Lead at Roger Black Consulting, where he and his teams worked with companies in the publishing, retail and tech industries. Clients included the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, National Geographic, the National Football League, Rolling Stone, J. Crew, Reader’s Digest, Bloomberg and Hewlett-Packard. During this period, he and his team launched Budget Living Media which took the top prize of General Excellence at the National Magazine Awards.

David’s media work began when he was hired by his teacher Paula Scher, joining her team at Pentagram, where he worked in brand development, packaging and editorial design. He left Pentagram to join Premiere magazine as Creative Director. David was also the CD of New York and Men’s Journal. While in magazines David served on the board of the Society of Publication Designers and often spoke at ASME, MPA among other media events .

David has judged the National Magazine Awards, Columbia University’s Eisenstadt Awards, the Chrysler Award for Design Innovation and has received numerous national and international awards for his work. He has lectured on media and design around the world and has written for several publications, including a monthly column in Folio magazine. Mostly recently, David spoke at Columbia University’s Journal School on church and state issues and at the 15 Second Festival, a European version of TED talks.
