John is Co-Founder and CEO of Toonstar which is an animation tech startup that produces highly snackable + interactive content and experiences for mobile audiences. Prior to launching Toonstar, John spent almost fifteen years developing franchise properties and driving innovation at Warner Bros. and DreamWorks where he held roles in marketing, business development, digital content creation and tech commercialization.
While at Warner Bros., he and his team pioneered numerous digital-first franchise campaigns for mega entertainment properties including Harry Potter, Lego, The Dark Knight and The Hobbit. He also designed and launched multiple digital media transformation initiatives including the Innovation Incubator (i2) and was an advisor to several Media Camp startups as part of the company’s media tech accelerator.
John focuses on projects that leverage technology to transform the way stories are produced, shared and experienced and supports the advancement of creativity and commerce through advisory roles with several entertainment industry accelerators and business programs.
He’s a student of Saturday morning cartoons and rounded out his education with a BA from Loyola Marymount University and an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business.Member Directory
